Common framework

ASTÉRALE Gazania and ASTÉRALE Cassinia are brands of ASTERALE, the wealth management advisory firm founded by Sébastien Bailly. Both brands operate under the firm's authorisations, ORIAS no. 23 007 423.

ASTERALE advises business owners, professionals and holders of established estates from Arcueil and Paris.

The aster family

All three names come from the botany of the Asteraceae, one of the two largest families of flowering plants.

In the daisy, the sunflower or the aster, the apparent flower is a flower head (capitulum): an assembly of dozens of florets gathered on a common receptacle.

ASTERALE takes its name from the order Asterales, to which this family belongs. The name comes from the Greek ἀστήρ, star.

Theodorus Gaza and the genus Gazania

The genus Gazania, native to southern Africa, honours Theodorus Gaza (c. 1398-1478), a Byzantine humanist.

Born in Thessalonica, Gaza took refuge in Italy ahead of the Ottoman advance. He taught Greek at Ferrara and then in Rome.

He translated into Latin Theophrastus's Enquiry into Plants and Causes of Plants, the first botanical treatises in history. These texts had been inaccessible to Western readers for centuries.

Henri Cassini and the genus Cassinia

The genus Cassinia bears the name of Henri Cassini (1781-1832), botanist and viscount. The botanist Robert Brown dedicated it to him.

Four generations of Cassinis worked in succession at the Paris Observatory, measuring the sky and then the country. The first gave his name to the Cassini division in Saturn's rings. The fourth, Jean-Dominique, Henri's father, completed the map of France.

Henri Cassini turned to botany. From 1812 to 1830 he concentrated on one family, the Compositae, now called Asteraceae. He distinguished nineteen to twenty tribes within it, and the current classification of the family still bears the trace of this division.
